Crypto Market Sees Sudden Surge as Bitcoin Rallies 20%
The crypto market has experienced a sudden surge in recent days, with Bitcoin at its forefront. As of early Friday, the world's largest cryptocurrency had gained around 20% in just one week, reaching a price of $75,343.01 compared to $62,836.88 at the start of the week.
The rally is attributed to several factors, including lower Treasury yields and a massive short squeeze that has triggered a sudden influx of investment into riskier assets like cryptocurrencies.
US Treasury yields dropped sharply after a major intervention in the bond market, which reduced pressure on riskier investments. This decrease in yields made cryptocurrencies more attractive to investors, who began to move money back into these assets.
The rally gained momentum due to a short squeeze that saw a $2.7 billion influx of investment into Bitcoin and related financial products. Coinbase shares rose 7.5%, Circle gained 6.45%, and Strategy climbed 7.8% in response to the surge.
