Crypto Market Sentiment Edges Up but Remains Cautious Amid Fear
The cryptocurrency market is showing a slight improvement in sentiment, but fear still dominates. CoinMarketCap's proprietary fear and greed index rose to 38 from 36 yesterday, moving further into 'fear' territory.
The index measures the collective emotional state of the market using data such as price movements of top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, overall market volatility, derivatives-market indicators, stablecoin supply ratio (SSR), and CoinMarketCap's own search data. A score closer to zero indicates extreme fear among investors.
While a reading of 38 suggests worry and uncertainty are driving trading behavior, some experts suggest that prolonged fear can be a contrarian signal. However, it is equally a sign that significant headwinds remain, such as macroeconomic pressures, regulatory uncertainty, and a lack of strong positive catalysts.
