Crypto Market Soars on Record Short Squeeze and Regulatory Optimism
The crypto market has experienced a sudden resurgence in activity this week, with Bitcoin and Ether leading the charge. Bitcoin has risen to over $72,300, while Ether has climbed above $2,330. This marks their strongest weekly performances since September and May last year respectively.
The move is largely attributed to a record $2.7 billion short squeeze, which saw nearly $3 billion in Bitcoin short positions wiped out. The scale of the rally suggests that the market had become overly pessimistic in recent months, leaving room for a sharp repricing as sentiment improved and risk appetite returned.
Adding to the constructive backdrop is the return of Bitcoin whales to accumulation mode, with around 43,000 BTC added over the past two months. This indicates that larger investors see value at current levels, reinforcing confidence in the longer-term outlook for the asset.
