Crypto Market Surges by $215 Billion Amid Trump's White House Meeting
The global cryptocurrency market cap surged by $215 billion between August 19 and 22, marking a gain of more than 24% in just three days. This significant increase pushed the total market capitalization above $1 trillion.
Following President Donald Trump's meeting with crypto executives at the White House on August 19, the market experienced a rally. During this meeting, Trump urged Congress to pass a 'fair version' of the CLARITY Act and mentioned that a 'sizable' government Bitcoin (BTC) purchase has been discussed.
Bitcoin subsequently broke above $70,000 for the first time since June. The altcoin market cap also saw significant gains, with mid and small caps leading the advance. According to analyst Darkfost, more than half of the altcoins available on Binance are now trading above their 200-day moving average (DMA), indicating a regime shift.
However, some analysts remain cautious, noting that the market has entered overbought territory and may need a short-term breather. Bitcoin dominance still stands at 59.69%, which is above the level many traders watch for a broader rotation.
