Crypto Market Surges to New Heights on Mass Short Liquidations and Rate Hopes
The cryptocurrency market has seen significant gains in recent days, with Bitcoin breaking back above $80K and pushing the total crypto market cap to its highest level since early 2026.
The price of Bitcoin has increased by 4% over the past day, currently trading at $80,821. This comes as other altcoins such as Ethereum (+4%), XRP (+5.8%), and Solana (+3.18%) are also up.
Zcash (ZEC) is leading the pack with a 15.49% gain over the past day, currently trading at $947.07. A Grayscale Research report highlighting AI-era surveillance risks and positioning ZEC as a privacy solution has contributed to its rally.
The market's gains can also be attributed to mass short liquidations across BTC, ETH, and ZEC, with total liquidations amounting to $544.68 million. Fed Governor Christopher Waller's comments on a possible rate hold if inflation stabilizes have added further fuel to the rally.
