Crypto Market Surpasses High-Yield Bonds as Global Value Hits $3 Trillion
The crypto market has surpassed the high-yield bond market in value, according to Grayscale Research. The global crypto market cap reached $3 trillion in Q4 2024, outpacing the inflation-linked bond market.
This growth can be attributed to the Bitcoin price surge above $100,000 after Donald Trump's election win in November 2024. The crypto market cap more than doubled in a year, from $1 trillion to over $3 trillion.
Smart contract platforms like Solana and Ethereum dominated the sector, with high-performance blockchains attracting investors and traders. However, Grayscale notes that these platforms are still facing design issues affecting decentralization, security, and scalability.
