Crypto Market Surpasses High-Yield Bonds as Grayscale Reports $3 Trillion Value
The crypto market has surpassed the high-yield bond market in value, according to a report from Grayscale Research. The global crypto market cap reached $3 trillion in Q4 2024, exceeding that of inflation-linked bonds and even coming close to surpassing the hedge fund industry. However, it still lags behind Japan's equity market cap of $4.5 trillion.
The remarkable growth in the crypto market can be attributed to the aftermath of Donald Trump's election win in November 2024, which caused a significant rally in Bitcoin, pushing its price above $100,000 by December 2024. Analysts have predicted that Bitcoin will reach $150,000 by the end of 2025.
The report also highlights the increasing competition in the smart contract platform sector, with platforms like Solana and Ethereum experiencing substantial growth. The Grayscale Research Top 20 features several high-performance blockchains, including TON and Sui, which have attracted investor attention.
