Crypto Market Trading Volume Dives to 2026 Lows
The crypto market has hit its lowest trading volume level this year, according to data from Kaiko. Daily spot volumes across tracked exchanges dropped to around $15 billion last week.
This marks a significant decline in activity, with daily trading volumes on centralized exchanges falling by 70% from peak levels in January. The average daily volume trend has also dropped 50% since December 2025, down to about $20 billion.
The six largest exchanges now account for more than 60% of total trading activity. However, some experts argue that the drop in trading volume on centralized exchanges (CEXs) is a sign of changing exchange dynamics, rather than a decline in overall liquidity.
Data from The Block shows that decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes have been climbing steadily throughout the year, with DEXs now accounting for 46% of total trading activity. This shift has led some to argue that CEXs are losing market share to DEXs.
