Crypto Markets End Flat Week as Bitcoin Fluctuates Amid Volatility

Crypto markets experienced another volatile week, with prices fluctuating wildly before ultimately ending flat. The market capitalization of the crypto economy started at around $2.74 trillion on Monday and dropped to below $2.7 trillion by Tuesday before recovering to reach $2.79 trillion by Friday.

Bitcoin's price action was particularly notable, briefly rising above $81,000 on Tuesday before consolidating between $77,000 and $79,000 for two days. It then surged again on Thursday to reclaim the $81,000 mark, only to drop below $77,000 in the lead-up to Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole address.

Despite this volatility, bitcoin ultimately posted a modest 1% weekly gain and is on track to finish August with gains exceeding 20%. Industry experts attribute the parallel movement between bitcoin and gold to a broader reassessment of scarce assets rather than an institutional flight from fiat debasement alone.
