Crypto Markets Soar on Dovish Fed Comments and ETF Inflows
Cryptocurrency markets surged on Friday after dovish comments from Fed Governor Waller hinted at potentially disinflationary trends in the US economy. The Fed's repricing of rate hike expectations and easing in bond yields contributed to the rally, as did massive inflows to Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETF products.
The net inflows to U.S.-listed Bitcoin Spot ETF products jumped to $731 million on Thursday from $101 million on Wednesday, while Ethereum Spot ETF products saw net inflows of $141 million after recording net outflows of $48 million the previous day.
A massive liquidation of short positions also supported the surge in cryptocurrency prices. During the past 24 hours, the liquidation of short positions exceeded the liquidation of long positions by a wide margin, with aggregate liquidations reaching $568 million.
