Crypto Maturity: OKX Europe Leads the Way with Regulatory Oversight and Security Features
Since the MiCA deadline, there's been a significant migration of users to platforms that meet regulatory requirements. OKX Europe's CEO, Erald Ghoos, notes that trust in the space isn't fragile, but rather compounding. As users have more ways to verify a platform's legitimacy, they're also seeing fewer places for platforms to hide if they don't measure up.
One area where this is evident is in Proof of Reserves. OKX Europe recently published its 45th consecutive monthly report, showing $23.1 billion held across BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC, with reserve ratios above 100%. Users can verify their own balances without exposing their identity.
OKX Europe also holds three separate authorisations: a MiCA CASP licence, MiFID II authorisation, and a Payment Institution licence. This means they're supervised across spot trading, derivatives, and payments under one regulated entity answerable to European regulators.
The platform's operational security is also improving, with features like OK Protect giving users account-level tools and withdrawal safeguards. Large Withdrawal Protection lets users set their own threshold for what counts as a 'large' withdrawal, triggering an extra verification step.
