Crypto Maturity on Full Display as World Releases Identity Toolkit
Recent developments in the crypto and blockchain space have showcased the growing maturity of the industry. One notable example is World's release of ProveKit, a zero-knowledge proving toolkit used in its identity system, as open-source software. This move allows developers to access the same privacy-preserving approach without keeping it inside one product.
The toolkit enables users to prove specific facts about their identity, such as age or an attribute, without exposing personal information. However, the adoption of this technology remains a challenge. Digital identity is still one of crypto's harder problems, and many applications require verifying user uniqueness without turning every interaction into a full identity check.
Zcash developers have made significant improvements to zero-knowledge proof generation with the release of Zakura Common, an open-source cryptography toolkit. Testing showed that proof generation has been reduced from over three seconds to below 200 milliseconds, with large improvements on mobile devices.
In other news, Uniswap processed more than seven million swaps in a single day across its deployments, demonstrating the growth and maturity of decentralized trading infrastructure. However, high transaction counts can come from various factors, including small trades, automated activity, or fragmented liquidity.
