Crypto Millionaires Face New Hurdle in Wealth Transition
Crypto millionaires face a new challenge as they try to transition their wealth into traditional financial structures. According to the Crypto Wealth Report 2026, there are an estimated 135,694 crypto millionaires worldwide, with around 92,272 holding at least $1 million in Bitcoin exposure.
However, moving large amounts of cryptocurrency into a traditional structure requires proof that the assets were acquired and controlled by the individual. Public blockchains show transactions but do not automatically prove ownership or origin.
The UK's HM Revenue and Customs recorded 17,600 taxpayers with cryptoasset gains in the 2024-25 tax year, with 240 taxpayers declaring gains exceeding approximately $1.36 million. These individuals accounted for about 52% of all reported crypto gains.
