Crypto Mining Sector Surges 27%, Driven by AI Infrastructure Boom
The crypto mining sector has surged by 27% in the past week, outperforming all other sectors. This rally is driven primarily by AI infrastructure announcements that have changed investor perceptions of Bitcoin mining companies' valuation logic.
Hut 8 announced a new 15-year lease for its Beacon Point facility, covering 352 megawatts of power. The agreement doubles the contracted capacity to 704 megawatts, raising the total base contract value to $19.6 billion. IREN signed an additional $2.8 billion AI cloud contract, raising its year-end run rate target from $3.7 billion to over $4 billion.
Jito's JTX is redefining what the company does, shifting from a price taker in Solana block space to a price setter for user traffic. Since its launch on July 14, over 77,000 transactions have occurred, with the median transaction price deviating from the oracle midpoint by only 5.5 basis points.
The base scenario assumes JTX captures 15% of Solana DEX trading volume by Q2 2027, generating a net income of $5.8 million per quarter and total revenue of $8.2 million. This implies a market-to-sales ratio of less than 15 times, adjusted for treasury, corresponding to a JTO price of $1.18, implying about 57% upside.
