Crypto Mom Peirce Remains Optimistic on Clarity Act Passage
SEC Commissioner Hester 'Crypto Mom' Peirce is optimistic about the Clarity Act's passage, saying it will provide clarity on regulatory authority and make it easier for investors to navigate the crypto market. The bill aims to create a regulatory framework for the US cryptocurrency market.
The Senate has 4 days to pass the Clarity Act before recess, but some Democrats have expressed concerns that the bill needs work. Commissioner Peirce acknowledged these challenges but remained optimistic, stating that even if the bill doesn't pass, the SEC can still develop a framework for crypto fundraising and other activities.
The Clarity Act has been in limbo since 2026 due to concerns from the banking lobby, which raised issues about stablecoin yield. An updated bill was introduced in July addressing these concerns, including a ban on government officials and their families issuing or promoting crypto.
