Crypto Payments Go Global: Adoption Skyrockets Beyond the US
Crypto payments have reached a global turning point, surpassing their niche status in the US. According to new research by CryptoCasinoRank, adoption is strong across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where digital assets serve as both payment methods and protection against local currency volatility.
Chainalysis estimates that over 300 million people worldwide now own cryptocurrency, with Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines leading the way. Growth has been particularly strong in these regions, driven by consumer demand and economic conditions.
Transaction data from Tanzanite Terminal shows a significant increase in crypto payments, reaching $44.7 billion in 2026, an 84% year-on-year growth. Stake recorded $22.1 billion in transaction volume, while Roobet and Bitcasino experienced strong annual growth.
The US presents a contrasting picture, with regulation remaining restrictive but consumer interest growing. Paysafe's research found that 83% of surveyed US consumers interested in regulated online wagering would prefer to use cryptocurrency for payments where permitted.
