Crypto Payments Take Flight in Private Aviation
Crypto payments are no longer a novelty in private aviation, according to Ivar Jaanus, head of business development at Estonia-based crypto payment processor Swapin. Since 2022, the company has seen significant growth in the private aviation sector, with a growing demographic of digitally native clients using stablecoins for large transactions.
Jaanus notes that the biggest challenge is market education and helping businesses understand what accepting crypto actually looks like in practice. Payment links are often the easiest place to start, allowing businesses to begin accepting crypto almost immediately.
Swapin's focus over the next few years will be on expanding through partnerships with operators, brokers, and booking platforms that want to offer another payment method without changing how they receive funds. The company is also seeing a network effect take hold in the private aviation industry, where word travels fast when something works.
Jaanus emphasizes that client feedback has shaped their service, prioritizing simplicity and solving real-world problems encountered by clients. Beyond payment links, Swapin plans to develop its API and other technology to integrate with aviation booking or management software, giving businesses the flexibility to integrate crypto payments directly into their platforms and workflows.
