Crypto Prices Swing on CLARITY Vote and Fed Rate Decision
Two high-stakes votes in 24 hours could significantly impact the prices of Bitcoin (BTC), XRP, Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL). The Senate will vote on cloture for the CLARITY Act at 2:15pm ET on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. A day later, the Federal Open Market Committee will announce its rate call.
XRP holds a significant amount of value in this scenario because the Senate bill names XRP and XLM as digital commodity examples. The current price is $1.39, up 3.9% over 24 hours, three times Bitcoin's gain. If cloture passes, XRP would likely reach $1.47 to $1.55, a 5.8% to 11.5% increase from the current price.
Ethereum has been treated as a commodity since 2018, so the CLARITY bill does less for classification than it does for staking and DeFi provisions in the 635-page text. US spot Ethereum ETFs took in $216 million on September 11, per SoSoValue. A hawkish Fed would put $2,405 in play before the same shock dragged Bitcoin under $76,500.
Solana's week turns on whether ETF demand holds, which fell 96% to $6.18 million from $153.87 million in the week ending August 28, per SoSoValue. Solana needs to clear $105, 3.8% above the current price of $101.
Bitcoin is the only one of the four that no combination badly hurts, but it also moves least in the combinations that go well. A reader who wants the safest position and a reader who wants the biggest one are not buying the same coin.
