Crypto Projects Built on Real Adoption Take Center Stage
The cryptocurrency market has shifted its focus to projects with tangible adoption and utility-driven token models. Unlike the last altcoin cycle, where hype often outran technology, today's infrastructure supports real users moving real money.
One such project is Stacks, a Bitcoin layer that lets developers build lending, borrowing, and trading applications settling back to the Bitcoin base chain. With $545 million in value locked during Q1 2026 and over 4,200 BTC paid out to holders since January 2021 for helping secure it, Stacks has made significant strides.
Another key project is Zest Protocol, a lending market built on top of Stacks that allows Bitcoin holders to borrow against their coins or earn yield. With more than 800 BTC deposited and over $100 million in value locked, Zest has grown into the largest DeFi protocol on Stacks.
Ondo Finance (ONDO) is also gaining traction with its tokenized real-world assets like treasuries, stocks, and funds moving on-chain. The protocol surpassed $4 billion in value locked in June 2026, more than doubling since the start of the year.
