Crypto Projects Down 95-99% From ATH Still Building Despite Market Neglect
In 2026, nearly 100 crypto projects shut down, but some that suffered significant price drops continue to develop and upgrade their networks. One such project is Internet Computer (ICP), which has fallen 99.7% from its all-time high of $750 in May 2021, yet still records over 200 daily commits on Santiment's developer activity snapshot.
Despite its token price collapse, DFINITY continued shipping major infrastructure upgrades, including Caffeine and Cyclotron, which improved network performance and developer tooling. The team also experimented with on-chain AI, moving beyond simple demonstrations toward applications that run models and AI agents directly on decentralized infrastructure.
The development data supports the argument that ICP remains active. In February 2026, DFINITY introduced Mission 70, a proposal to reduce annual token inflation from 9.72% to 5.42%. However, the risks remain significant, with DFINITY reducing its workforce by 30% and several senior employees departing.
Another project that continues to build is Filecoin (FIL), which has also fallen 99.7% from its all-time high of $237 in April 2021. Despite this, the team never stopped building and continues developing a decentralized storage network with real enterprise and archival use cases.
