Crypto Rails Build Foundation for Next-Gen Financial System
For ten years, institutional traders told J.P. Morgan's e-Trading Survey that their biggest market structure concern was access to liquidity. This year, technology took the top spot at 22%, just one point ahead of its predecessor.
The shift behind this change is larger than a single point margin. Financial system functions such as moving money, holding it at a return, reaching markets, and posting collateral are increasingly being developed using infrastructure capable of continuous settlement.
Traditional assets are starting to move onto these rails, according to the World Economic Forum's description of a systems phase in which settlement, custody, and payments shift from batch processes to always-on rails. Kaiko frames this change as four layers that feed one another: trading liquidity may support yield products, while retained balances can move through wallets and cards.
Eowyn Chen, Interim Chief Marketing Officer at Binance, says the financial platform of the next era is taking shape. 'Crypto-native infrastructure, traditional assets, stablecoins, payments, savings, and intelligent AI protection are beginning to come together in one always-on system.'
