Crypto Regulation Will Continue Regardless of CLARITY Act Outcome
Grayscale Research believes that crypto regulation in the US will continue to advance regardless of the outcome of the CLARITY Act vote, which is set for September 15. The firm argues that regulatory progress has already begun in various areas, including stablecoins, token issuance, and regulated derivatives.
The GENIUS Act established a federal regulatory system for payment stablecoins, while the SEC has proposed rules for token sales and securities activities conducted on blockchain platforms. Meanwhile, the CFTC has broadened access to regulated crypto derivatives.
Grayscale notes that even if Congress fails to pass the CLARITY Act this year, other regulatory options may continue to evolve. The firm points out that developments involving platforms such as Kalshi and Coinbase could happen regardless of the bill's outcome.
