Crypto Regulatory Clarity Advances Despite CLARITY Act Uncertainty
The U.S. cryptocurrency regulatory landscape is showing signs of progress despite the uncertainty surrounding the CLARITY Act.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, told CNBC that the legislation is close to securing enough Senate support to pass, with remaining disagreements centered on ethics provisions.
A key Senate vote is scheduled for September 15, which will determine whether the bill reaches the required 60 votes. If it passes, the CLARITY Act could unlock additional institutional capital and pave the way for tokenized equities in the United States.
However, Zach Pandl, Head of Research at Grayscale, argued that regulatory clarity is already improving even without the CLARITY Act. He pointed to developments involving stablecoins, token issuance, and regulated perpetual futures as evidence of progress.
