Crypto Security Incidents Lead to $3.63 Billion in Losses
Crypto security incidents have led to staggering losses of $3.63 billion between January 2025 and July 2026, according to a report from CoinGecko.
The report highlights 245 recorded attacks, with the top 10 incidents accounting for over 72.5% of the total loss. Notably, most affected platforms had undergone independent security audits, covering around 88.44% of the losses, but these audits failed to prevent many incidents.
CoinGecko's findings also indicate that active coverage capacity of on-chain insurance protocols has decreased by 20.2%, reducing overall protection in the sector. The report emphasizes the need for improved security measures across platforms as crypto adoption continues to grow.
