Crypto security losses have reached record levels in the first half of 2026, exceeding $1.1 billion, according to a report by Blockaid.

The number of on-chain incidents has accelerated to 212, a significant increase from previous years.

April alone accounted for over $600 million in losses across DeFi, with the Kelp DAO and Drift Protocol incidents standing out as the biggest individual attacks.

Ethereum recorded the largest losses at $332 million, followed closely by Solana at $326 million. The two blockchain ecosystems were targeted due to their high-value protocols and signer-heavy multisig infrastructure.

The report suggests that attackers are targeting the architecture specific to each blockchain rather than focusing on larger ecosystems.
