Centralized crypto exchanges saw a sharp slowdown in spot activity during Q2, with total trading volume across the top ten platforms falling 27.9% to $1.95 trillion.

The decline was driven by May's lowest monthly spot volume at $619 billion, which was also the weakest month of 2026 so far.

Binance maintained its lead in Q2, accounting for 38.7% of spot volume, while Bybit held the only other double-digit share.

The wider market weakness contributed to reduced participation across major centralized spot markets, with average daily trading volume falling 20.9% quarter over quarter to $93.1 billion.
