Crypto Trading Volumes Double in Five Days Amid Regulatory Momentum
Crypto trading volumes doubled in just five days, reaching USD 37 billion. This surge marks a rebound from a period of sideways trading and brings much-needed energy to the market.
The rapid increase is attributed to several factors: regulatory optimism around the CLARITY Act, a powerful short squeeze, and easing Treasury yields. President Donald Trump's meeting with crypto executives at the White House highlighted the industry's growing influence in Washington.
Bitcoin prices rose over 23% during this period, moving close to USD 80,000. Ethereum surged more than 30%, its strongest weekly performance in recent months. Altcoins gained nearly 13%, excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The recovery is not without caveats: August volumes remain below July's total, and the market has yet to return to its October peak of USD 105 billion. Exchanges face rising competition from ETFs and decentralized platforms, which are reshaping how trading volume flows.
