Crypto Tycoon's Mysterious Death Sparks Wrench Attack Fears
Hong Kong-born crypto tycoon Harry Yeh Chun-tak has died in a fall from his mansion in Paraguay, sparking suspicions of foul play. The incident occurred on August 7, with Yeh reportedly falling from the 30th floor of his home while entirely naked.
Investigations have found that his apartment door was open and the interior severely ransacked. While police haven't ruled out accidents, suicide, or homicide, the crypto community is focusing on a 'wrench attack,' where victims are coerced into surrendering their passwords for crypto holdings.
Yeh's death comes amidst a growing trend of extortions and murders targeting high-profile crypto asset holders. In recent years, there have been numerous cases of suspected wrench attacks, with the first half of this year seeing 46 confirmed attacks globally, resulting in losses exceeding $30 million.
