Crypto Vets Refuse to Write Off Altcoins: Bitcoin Not the Only Game In Town
Industry veterans are pushing back against the idea that 'everything except Bitcoin is dead'. Avichal Garg, co-founder of Electric Capital, believes that while many cryptocurrencies may struggle to find their place in the market, there's still room for other valuable internet-native assets.
Garg highlighted Ethereum and Solana as two examples of blockchains that occupy distinct niches. He sees Ethereum as a potential major settlement layer for the global financial system, with its smart-contract infrastructure enabling seamless transactions and programmability.
Solana, on the other hand, is positioning itself as a consumer-focused blockchain, with high throughput, cheap transactions, stablecoin integrations, and a strong developer ecosystem. Applications such as decentralized trading platforms could eventually generate sustainable businesses on top of the network.
Scott Melker, in an interview with 'When Shift Happens' on August 6, took a more concentrated approach to his crypto exposure, holding roughly 80% Bitcoin, 10% Ethereum, and 10% Solana. He considers Ethereum and Solana attractive long-term investments but views them as less permanent than Bitcoin.
