Cryptocurrency Ban Called For by Vivaldi CEO Amid Regulatory Concerns
Vivaldi CEO Jon von Tetzchner has reignited his criticism of cryptocurrencies, stating that they should have been banned due to their potential for exerting excessive political influence. In a recent social media post, he noted that 'there are consequences from lack of regulation' in the crypto space.
Von Tetzchner also expressed concerns about user profiling for ads and content algorithms, saying 'we should have banned user profiling for ads and content algorithms.' He claimed that failure to regulate these practices has had a negative impact on society and democracy.
The Vivaldi CEO's comments come as some AI companies are now calling for regulation of their own. Von Tetzchner questioned whether these companies can be trusted to self-regulate, asking 'what to do?'
