Cryptocurrency Kiosk Ban Takes Effect in Minnesota

Minnesota's new law takes effect on August 1st, banning cryptocurrency kiosks in the state. This move aims to combat scams and protect consumers from financial losses.

The law requires all existing machines to be offline by Saturday and physically removed from stores by the end of the year. According to officials, scammers have used these machines to steal nearly $1 million from consumers.

Drew Evans, superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, noted that removing cryptocurrency kiosks is just one step in tackling fraud. He emphasized that 'criminals continue looking for new ways to obtain money' and that this ban closes an important pathway for them.
