Cryptocurrency Market Drops as Inflation Concerns Rise
The cryptocurrency market has seen significant declines over the past 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
Bitcoin led the decline, falling 2.63% in value to reach $77,621.18. Ethereum also experienced a decrease of 1.94%, settling at $2,438.97, while BNB dropped 2.70% to $690.04.
Other major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Cash and Bittensor fell by 6.77% and 3.70%, respectively. In contrast, Zcash gained 1.30% and Monero rose 1.43%. Gold-backed cryptocurrencies PAX Gold (PAXG) and Tether Gold (XAUT) also declined, falling 2.44% and 2.40% to $4,461.17 and $4,458.11.
The total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies decreased by 2.21% over the past day, reaching $2.62 trillion. This downturn is attributed in part to US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole, where he emphasized that inflation remains high and market expectations for a rate hike in September increased.
