Cryptocurrency Market Sees Massive Surge in TradFi Trading Volume, Binance Dominance Fades
The global cryptocurrency market has seen a significant surge in trading volume for traditional financial (TradFi) assets, exceeding $130 billion USD in the first half of 2026. According to research from RootData Research, this represents a nearly tenfold increase over the full year of 2025. Notably, derivatives products account for more than 98% of these trades.
The market landscape is shifting from a single dominant player to a multi-competitive arena. Binance leads with a 68.3% share of the TradFi market, but its monthly trading volume has declined from 78.8% at the start of the year to 58.2% in August. Meanwhile, OKX, Gate, and Hyperliquid are expanding rapidly, capturing 18.2%, 10.7%, and 9.9% of the market share respectively.
In the stock derivatives segment, Binance maintains its dominance with a daily average trading volume of $14.927 billion USD in August. OKX, however, has established an advantage through its industry-low price difference, resulting in lower transaction costs. Gate has also seen impressive growth, achieving four consecutive months of triple-digit monthly growth from May to August.
