Cryptocurrency Market Surges as Bitcoin Breaks Above $77K
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a bullish trend, led by Bitcoin's surge above $77,000. This has dragged other cryptocurrencies up as well, including Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano.
According to the Fear & Greed Index, which measures investor sentiment, traders are becoming increasingly comfortable taking on risk again. The index has jumped to 73 from 62 just a day earlier, indicating a shift towards a more optimistic outlook.
The main driver behind Bitcoin's price increase is its best week in over two years. The token has climbed 8.3% in the past 24 hours and is up 22% since Monday alone. Two key events have contributed to this surge: President Trump meeting with crypto executives at the White House, which pushed for Congress to pass the Clarity Act; and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stating that the department plans to boost buybacks of longer-duration debt.
The rise in Bitcoin has also led to increased inflows into cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Bitcoin spot ETFs have seen a total of $1.6 billion in inflows over the past four days, while Ethereum ETFs have seen a significant increase as well.
