Cryptocurrency Market Volatility: Lighter and Cardano Soar Amidst Broad Caution
The cryptocurrency market was cautious today, but some coins stood out from the rest. The overall market value of all cryptocurrencies is around $2.19 trillion, which is up by 0.24% compared to yesterday. The CMC20 index, a broad tracker, rose 0.33% to $130.93.
Bitcoin's price traded at $64,270.87, a gain of 0.57% today. However, the Fear and Greed Index remains in 'Fear' mode with a score of 38. This shows that investors are still cautious about making big bets on cryptocurrency.
The top gainer among cryptocurrencies was Lighter (LIT), which rose by 11.08% to $2.37. The project's new market went live, allowing traders to use pre-IPO token UNITREE with up to 5x leverage. Lighter also teamed up with Eigen Labs to launch the Lighter Prover Challenge, offering a prize of 15,000 LIT.
Cardano (ADA) was another big gainer, rising by 6.11% to $0.1993. The Cardano Foundation announced Hydra, a new layer-2 tool that confirms transfers almost instantly off-chain. Cardano also moved into the Dijkstra era, making it the first major chain to fund core work straight from its own treasury.
LayerZero (ZRO) gained 5.54% to $0.8182 after joining the Global Dollar Network and working with over 150 fintech firms on real-dollar tools. The team also shared a strong number, stating that their OFT token standard now carries 87% of all cross-chain transfer volume in 2026.
On the other hand, Canton (CC) dropped by 13.52% to $0.08809 due to broad altcoin selling and its sensitivity to market mood as a privacy-focused cryptocurrency. Audiera (BEAT) fell 7.64% despite burning 783,495 BEAT this week and earning 785,695 BEAT in weekly revenue.
Liquidations rose by nearly 40% today, pointing to leveraged bets getting cleared out quickly. This pattern often plays out in the cryptocurrency market across many tokens at once.
