Cryptocurrency Prices Plummet Amid CLARITY Act Speculation and AI Safety Risks
Cryptocurrency prices fell across the board on Sunday evening as investors digested speculation over the potential passage of the CLARITY Act and warnings from AI CEOs about major safety risks.
Bitcoin dropped to an intraday low of $76,367, while Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin all declined in price. The 24-hour trading volume for Bitcoin spiked 10% as investors adjusted their positions amid the uncertainty.
The Senate is set to hold a procedural cloture vote on the CLARITY Act on Tuesday, which could impact the market's sentiment. Analysts are watching the situation closely, with some predicting potential price movements based on the outcome.
Cryptocurrency chartist Michaël van de Poppe believes that Bitcoin needs to reclaim $78,000 for a potential rally to $90,000 in coming weeks. However, he also warned that if $78,000 breaks and BTC falls to $74,000, it could be an opportunity to buy.
Ethereum's open interest rose 0.75% from the previous day, indicating a short build-up as bearish traders enter the market. Despite this, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index still shows a 'Greed' sentiment in the market, suggesting that investors remain bullish on cryptocurrencies.
