Cryptocurrency Trading Volume Crashes 70% to Lowest Level This Year
Cryptocurrency trading volume has dropped significantly, falling to $15 billion according to recent data. This represents a 70% decline from its peak in January and marks the lowest daily Spot trading volume of the year so far.
Despite this drop, the global cryptocurrency market capitalization still stands at $2.18 trillion, having increased by 1.23% over the previous day. However, The Kobeissi Letter reports that a smaller number of investors are actively buying and selling cryptocurrencies, with many waiting for a catalyst such as the approval of the CLARITY Act or a shift in monetary policy.
The decline in trading volume is causing a decline in liquidity, which can lead to abrupt price reversals. However, it's also possible that institutions are being cautious and waiting for better market conditions.
