Cryptos Price Private AI Company at $2 Trillion
The private AI company Anthropic has no public stock and hasn't filed for an initial public offering (IPO), but crypto markets have priced it at $2 trillion through perpetual contracts. On September 9, Binance's ANTHROPIC/USDT contract traded near $2,120, implying a valuation of $2.12 trillion based on an assumed 1 billion share count.
Anthropic's last private funding round in May valued the company at $965 billion. The company has warned that unauthorized investment structures, including special-purpose vehicles (SPVs), may leave investors with nothing.
Crypto traders have been using pre-IPO perpetual contracts to bet on Anthropic's future valuation without giving anyone actual ownership. These contracts settle in tether and let traders speculate on where the company might eventually be valued.
Anthropic has pushed back against token structures, including Prestocks' ANTHROPIC token on Solana through an SPV. The company stated that it does not allow SPVs to acquire its stock and that any transfers into one are void.
