Ctrl Wallet Shuts Down Tomorrow: Users Face Uncertainty Over Token Recovery
Ctrl Wallet users are facing a deadline on August 3rd when sending, receiving, swaps, and dApp connections will stop. The wallet's deprecation notice lists only calendar dates and does not specify an exact cutoff time or timezone.
This means that waiting for a particular time on Monday risks missing the transfer window. Ctrl Wallet markets itself as supporting over 2,500 blockchains and has more than 600,000 users, although a verified tally of active or affected users is unavailable.
Users have two options to rescue their tokens: export the 12- or 24-word recovery phrase and import it into a compatible wallet, or send assets to addresses they already control before August 3rd. However, Ctrl warns that no official migration token, compensation airdrop, or refund exists, making any promise of one a scam.
Ctrl also emphasizes that the recovery phrase is private and should only be entered inside the setup flow of the compatible wallet chosen. After August 3rd, the app will only provide phrase export for as long as the installed copy still opens.
