Ctrl Wallet Shuts Down: Transfer Assets by August 2
Crypto wallet Ctrl is shutting down on August 3, leaving users in a scramble to transfer their assets or secure their recovery phrases. The wallet's deprecation notice states that sending, receiving, swaps, and dApp connections will stop, but users can still export their recovery phrase and import it into another compatible wallet.
The wallet claims to support more than 2,500 blockchains, but its deprecation notice lacks a specific cutoff time or timezone, leaving users at risk of missing the transfer window. The company warns that installed copies will keep all functions until August 2, and users are advised to export their recovery phrase before then.
The recovery phrase is the key to accessing accounts in another wallet, but Ctrl cannot promise that a copy will continue to open after August 3. Users who wait could lose access to their funds if the app later stops working. The company also warns against scammers offering migration tokens, compensation airdrops, or refunds.
