Cuomo Predicts CLARITY Act Resolution, Pushes Bipartisan Crypto Regulation
Andrew Cuomo, former governor of New York and co-chair of OKX's partnership with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), is pushing for swift passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The bill aims to clear up jurisdictional confusion between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets.
The CLARITY Act has had a productive run through Congress, passing the House in July 2025 with a vote of 294-134 and receiving a 15-9 committee vote in the Senate. However, the bill is facing a clock as Senate Majority Leader John Thune suggests extending sessions beyond August 7 to ensure adequate floor time.
Cuomo argues that the bill should not become a partisan football, suggesting that lingering concerns over consumer protections and ethics can be resolved collaboratively. He also criticizes conflicts of interest among legislators who trade stocks while shaping financial market rules.
