CXMT Surpasses Micron in Next-Gen Memory Milestone
Chinese memory company CXMT has made significant strides in the industry by achieving mass production of LPDDR6 memory chips, surpassing established leaders such as Micron. This marks a major milestone for CXMT, which is now supplying LPDDR6 to Xiaomi's 18 Fold foldable smartphone.
The achievement is particularly notable since it comes at a time when the standard is being initially commercialized, rather than years after its introduction. LPDDR6 uses PAM3 signaling and pushes data transfer rates to 43.2 GT/s, with an I/O width of 24 bits.
CXMT has been rapidly advancing in recent times, having gone public and posted nearly tenfold revenue growth in its first earnings report as a listed company. However, the company still faces challenges in scaling up production for a wide market, beyond a single niche launch.
