Cypherpunk Launches World's Largest Zcash Mining Fleet with $33M Deal
Cypherpunk Technologies Inc., a privacy technology company listed on Nasdaq under ticker CYPH, has launched Cypherpunk Mining, now the world's largest Zcash mining fleet. This achievement comes after an equity-based transaction with Winklevoss Capital, valued at $33.33 million.
Approximately 4.2 GSol/s of Equihash hashrate is deployed across U.S.-based facilities, representing about 18% of the total Zcash network hashrate. This significant milestone marks Cypherpunk's evolution into a diversified privacy technology company and offers public market investors exposure to both Zcash mining and treasury upside.
Cypherpunk Mining joins Cypherpunk's existing ZEC treasury, anchored by its subsidiary Leap Therapeutics, and investment strategy in ZODL, the most widely used Zcash wallet. The acquisition is expected to accelerate Cypherpunk's path to holding 5% of the circulating ZEC supply, with a significant advantage due to lower production costs compared to spot prices.
Kevin Zhang, an industry veteran with over a decade of experience in Bitcoin and Zcash mining, has joined Cypherpunk as Head of Mining. He highlighted the profitability of Zcash mining, stating that 'even if the Zcash network hashrate increases significantly, Zcash mining still out-earns AI colocation and Bitcoin mining at today's ZEC prices.'
The transaction with Winklevoss Capital involved the issuance of a pre-funded warrant to purchase 43,290,042 shares of Cypherpunk common stock. This move underscores the growing interest in Zcash mining and digital assets.
