Cyprus Ranks Ninth in Global Crypto Adoption Index
Cyprus has made its mark in the world of cryptocurrency adoption, ranking ninth among 36 countries in the Henley Crypto Adoption Index 2026. According to the index, which evaluates jurisdictions that offer residency or citizenship pathways and their approach to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, Cyprus scored an overall 39.8 points out of a possible 60.
The country's regulatory environment received the highest score among all categories at 8.4 points, followed by economic factors at 8.1 points, tax treatment at 7.2 points, and public adoption at 7 points. However, Cyprus performed relatively poorly in innovation and technology, scoring only 5.1 points, and infrastructure adoption with a mere 4 points.
The Henley Crypto Adoption Index 2026 also highlights that Cyprus is emerging as an active base within the EU for regulated cryptocurrency businesses, with the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission licensing exchanges, custodian service providers, and other industry companies under the European Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
