CZ Abandons Public Wallet Amid Meme Coin Flood

Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao has closed a months-long saga by donating nearly $1 million in BNB and BinanceLife tokens to his free education nonprofit, Giggle Academy. The donation was made after CZ announced that he would stop using the public wallet, which had become a magnet for unsolicited meme coins.

The issue began when Zhao identified the public wallet address in February 2025, following a donation of $100,000 worth of BNB. This visibility transformed the wallet into a destination for unsolicited deposits, with more than $1 million in tokens eventually sent to the address.

In July, Zhao attempted to clean up the wallet while testing Trust Wallet, but the effort was met with community speculation and market disruption. The problem highlighted the structural tension unique to crypto, where traditional financial accounts do not expose incoming transactions to public scrutiny.
