CZ Confronts His Underestimation of Stablecoins

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has acknowledged that he underestimated the potential of stablecoins. In a recent interview, CZ said that when he was leading Binance, he viewed stablecoins primarily as a transitional technology to facilitate transfers between exchanges.

He expected them to stay in this niche role but the sector has since grown substantially, with its total market capitalization reaching approximately $309.85 billion at the time of writing.

CZ's perspective on stablecoins has broadened since he stepped down as Binance's chief executive. He now looks beyond cryptocurrency trading infrastructure to areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, real-world assets (RWAs), and asset tokenization.
