CZ Demands Crypto Overhaul Amid Quantum Computing Threat

Binance's former CEO Changpeng Zhao has downplayed the threat of quantum computing attacks on cryptocurrencies, but emphasized that the industry needs to adopt quantum-resistant algorithms to stay secure.

A recent Google whitepaper warned that 6.9 million Bitcoin (BTC) are exposed to quantum computing threats, which could potentially be cracked with fewer resources than previously thought.

The research found that a quantum computer could derive a private key from an exposed public key in just nine minutes, beating Bitcoin's confirmation window about 41% of the time.

Zhao responded by urging the industry to upgrade to Post-Quantum algorithms, stating 'All crypto has to do is upgrade to Quantum-Resistant (Post-Quantum) Algorithms. So, no need to panic.'

He acknowledged that executing such a migration would be difficult due to coordination problems and disagreements over which algorithms to adopt.
