CZ Forecasts On-Chain IPO Era Amid Binance Tokenized Trading Milestone
Binance founder Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao believes that initial public offerings (IPOs) will eventually move onto blockchain networks as tokenized stock trading continues to grow and U.S. regulators propose rules that account for blockchain-based securities.
The prediction comes as Binance's bStocks product passes $30 billion in cumulative trading volume just three months after its launch in June.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed transfer-agent rule changes that would modernize the machinery behind U.S. securities markets, including blockchain technology in securities offerings and share transfers.
Securitize and Cantor Fitzgerald are building infrastructure for on-chain IPOs while keeping offerings inside existing securities rules. Securitize has already provided a working example by listing on the New York Stock Exchange and offering issuer-sponsored tokenized shares on Solana (SOL) and Avalanche (AVAX) to eligible U.S. investors.
