CZ Praises Hong Kong as Hub for Web3 and RWAs, Predicts Tokenized Securities Growth
CZ, the founder of Binance, recently visited Hong Kong and expressed his support for the city as a potential hub for Web3 and real-world assets (RWAs). During an August 27 book meeting in the city, CZ described Hong Kong and Web3 as a 'powerful combination', citing its status as a financial center and access to professionals from mainland China.
CZ predicted that tokenized securities and other RWAs will become a major area of Web3 development. He noted that Hong Kong has already made significant progress in this area, with 13 tokenized products authorized by regulators as of March 2026. The city's Project Ensemble is also testing transactions involving tokenized deposits, funds, bonds, and other assets.
CZ also discussed the growth of decentralized exchanges (DEXs), which he believes will accelerate if U.S. regulatory pressure continues to ease. He noted that DEXs have become more competitive with better infrastructure and user awareness, but still face various regulatory requirements.
