CZ Predicts IPOs Will Move On-Chain Amidst Tokenized Trading Boom
Binance founder Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao predicts that Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) will eventually move onto blockchain platforms as tokenized stock trading expands. He made this forecast after Binance's bStocks product passed $30 billion in cumulative trading volume, just three months after its launch in June.
The SEC has proposed transfer-agent rule changes that would account for blockchain technology in securities offerings and share transfers. This move aims to modernize rules that have not received a substantive overhaul in decades while keeping transfer agents within the existing federal securities framework.
CZ's prediction is supported by recent developments, including the partnership between Securitize and Cantor Fitzgerald, which enables public companies to conduct IPOs and follow-on offerings with blockchain infrastructure. The shares remain regulated securities, and the proposal does not erase securities-law requirements.
